Cava and Champagne

Cava and Champagne

In Enrique Tomás, we strongly recommend to choose par excellence Cava and sparkling wines to combine with jamón ibérico.  The refreshing flavour and the bubbles of a cold glass of cava succeed in cleaning the palate after eating a piece of ham. This is the best example of "contrasted pairing".

Herewith, you will find the selection of cavas and champagnes intended to meet the most common requests of our customers: Cava Brut, Cava Brut Reserva, Cava Brut Nature, Cava Brut Rosé and Champagne.

In Enrique Tomás, we like to change the offer of wines, Cavas and champagnes every two years. There are numerous good wines in the world and our clientele deserves tasting as many as possible.

DRINK PAIRING

There are two types of wine and ham matching: “complemented pairing” or “contrasted pairing”

Complemented pairing:

In this case, the flavours of ham, cured meats or cheeses should complement the taste of the wine in a nice combination of drink and food that is agreeable to the palate.

Usually, this food pairing can be successful with red wines (not all of them) and with some white wines.

Contrasted pairing:

As the name indicates, the pairing is based upon the contrast of flavours: after eating the chosen food, we shall clean completely the palate to enjoy food and wine separately, in turns and thus, avoid interfering with each other.

Usually, this food pairing can be successful with dry white wines, Cavas or sparkling wines
