The typical country salad is an exceptional summer dish. It is one of the best known and most popular recipes in Spain as it contains some of the essential ingredients in Spanish cuisine. It is also a very summery and healthy dish due to the combination of products it contains. The base of the dish is the potato which, in this case, is combined with vegetables such as onion or tomato, and egg, Jamón ibérico and black olives are added. Canned fish such as tuna is also usually added so that, together with the egg, it provides us with more protein. In our case, this role is taken on by the jamón ibérico with its nutritional properties. The result: a tasty and healthy country salad, a complete dish with all the necessary nutrients and ideal to eat while it is hot!
At Enrique Tomás we want you to eat healthily but still enjoy your food very much. So, here are some more ideas for healthier and summery recipes.
The country salad is one of the most typical summer meals and we present you our proposal with ham as an original ingredient!
First wash the potatoes, peel them and cut them into medium-sized pieces. Boil them in a pot with water and a generous spoonful of salt.
In the same water, add two eggs and let them cook for 9-12 minutes.
While the potatoes are cooking, you can start cutting the onion into strips.
Also cut the tomato into small cubes.
After about 30 minutes, remove the potatoes from the pot and drain them. To check if they are well done, stick a knife into the pot and check the texture of the potato.
Add the whole or halved olives. Season to taste with salt and pepper and mix.
Finally, add the egg cut in halves and the slices of jamón on top. An elegant and delicious dish! Enjoy it.
