The Mexican tortilla with jamón serrano, cheese and tomato is perfect for any breakfast, snack or dinner and you can make it in just a few minutes. All you need is an oven and the ingredients listed below.
Have you heard of the Mexican tortilla before? It is a type of flat, round bread, made with wheat or corn flour and without yeast. Mexican tortillas are consumed throughout Mexico and have become popular in many other parts of the world. This type of tortilla is very versatile, because it can be accompanied with different ingredients as topping. The most common are chicken, pork or beef; in combination with vegetable ingredients such as beans, onion, tomato or avocado; and various sauces.
In this case, at Enrique Tomás we have opted for the whole wheat flour tortilla to make the dish even healthier, in combination with one of the protagonists of Mediterranean food such as tomato, a mixture of grated cheeses that will melt in the oven and give flavor and sweetness to the tortilla and, finally, our star product: Jamón Gran Reserva. We prepare the following ingredients.
Cut the tomato into slices and put one of the tortillas on a plate and place it on top, occupying half of the circumference a couple of centimeters from the edge. With the baking it spreads more and so it will not come out too much on the edges.
Cut the ham into very thin slices or if you buy it already sliced, remember to open the envelope a few minutes before placing it so that it gets the right texture, flavor and aroma. Spread all the ham on top of the tomato we already have.
It is the turn to add the cheese, trying to cover everything we have already added.
Sprinkle with oregano to taste.
Finally we fold the tortilla and put another pancake, just enough to compact everything.
With the oven preheated to 200º we bake it for 10 minutes or until it is golden to our taste.
Serve and ready!
